Lost in Translation

I revisited this movie recently. Wow, still magical. I could rip off a 5,000 word essay on it, but I'll spare you. Bill Murray is pitch perfect in his performance, so dry and yet so clearly full of angst and desperation to escape his life in a foreign land, away from everyone he knows. I wish YouTube would let me embed this video of him singing "More than this" in a Tokyo karaoke bar, so either click this link or settle for the non-video version below.

Here's Scarlett Johansson's take on the film:

New Captain America uniform concept art

Pretty cool stuff, true believers. I'm all for the modern military look. This was proposed for comics and I hope it translates to the movie sequel: Captain America - The Winter Soldier.

Superman vs. The Hulk - a CGI "What If" Battle

Pretty entertaining. Good CGI, especially with Superman looking like Christopher Reeve.
Geek out, true believers.

Happy 4th of July, true believers

Be patriotic today, follow in the footsteps of the Star-Spangled Avenger! 'Nuff said.

The Amazing Spider-man was good, not amazing

The action scenes were amazing, and the Peter/Gwen Stacy romance works really well ... the only problem was, well, the Lizard. The Lizard just did not work well - as Curt Conners the character was boring and as the Lizard the CGI just did not convince.

All in all, I'd say 3 out of 4 stars. Very fun from a comic book perspective, but overall the story was not as engaging as a top-flight movie ought to be.
