CW Interview #2: Make Mine Marvel!

This second interview focuses on how I got into comics and what I like to read. My apologies to the Living Legend of World War II, The Star-Spangled Avenger, The Shield Slinger, The Wing Head, ol' Cap himself: Captain America! Sadly, he did not make the cut in this interview, but he is my #1 fave, I assure you. Someday I'll post a pic of me at my 5th Christmas, where I stand proudly - in footsie pajamas - holding a 12-inch Cap figure, complete with shield!

Here's the first contest interview at I'll try to post the second one soon. Thanks for supporting CruZader, true believer.

Hot Stuff: The TING TINGS

This band is worth spending $5 on at the iTunes store. I'd pick up the following:

We Started Nothing
That's Not My Name
Shut Up and Let Me Go
We Walk
Great DJ

Enjoy. Toodaloo.

CW Comic Book Hero TV Spot

Finally got the vids from the fine folks at the CW.

Today's San Francisco Chronicle Ad, Featuring ... Superman & Me

Kind of weird to see this in print, suddenly it's all real. I have to give credit to my CruZader Team, they really came through on short notice to help me get this Smallville artwork together based off of a really crude sketch.

Well, CruZader has now earned some ink in "The Independent (Livermore)" and now the San Francisco Chronicle's "96 Hours" Bay Area Lifestyle section. What's next? "The Catholic Voice (Oakland Diocese)" has interviewed me and asked for pix & artwork for a feature article, so keep an eye out for that, true believers. I'm trying to line something up with radio too - Imaculate Heart Radio Network and maybe KNBR 680, which helped me promote CruZader #1 when I debuted it back in February during WonderCon at SF's Moscone Center.

I don't think Conan O'Brien is calling next ... but wouldn't it be sweet to be on his show along with the Masturbating Bear, special guest Mr. T and musical guest, The Concretes? If only Conan would ever bring his show to the Moscone Center, if only for one night, if only. A boy can dream ... can't he?

A song to keep an ear out for: "Make Me a Wish"

I understand this isn't even a real song yet, but just a portion of a song that the artist is working on releasing. In any event, it is very iPod-esque, Target-esque ... if you will.

This from our good friends at Chevrolet:

The singer is Emy Reynolds, a musician from southern California who has yet to release her first CD. The title of the song is "Make Me a Wish," (formerly "Nothing Sweet as You as Honey Come from Bee") according to a Chevy spokesman. It is not yet posted to her MySpace page or her Web site, though her fans are expressing eagerness to buy or download a copy whenever she releases it.

UPDATE: Let's see what Music Ramen has to say! Stay Tuned.

The newest WATCHMEN Trailer 11-13-08

A lot more plot here, true believers. Now we can see the main point of the story, and that is: someone is killing costumed heroes, but who? Totally rad.

You'll remember that in the first trailer, the sexy Silk Specter kisses her husband, the glowing blue Dr. Manhattan - and in this trailer, she is seen mackin' with her paramour, the brown-clad Owl. Super soap opera? Super scandal? Find out what happens in March of 2009.

Conan & Mr T at the apple orchard

Mr T and Conan go to the apple orchard

This is one of my all-time favorite Conan skits, featuring The Great Mr. T. It's worth watching to the end, just to see Mr. C and Mr. T singing along to a banjo during an old-fashioned hay ride through the orchard - it makes me laugh every time I see it. How could those kids on the hay ride not join in and sing the song "I pity the fool that mess with T"?

Under-rated bands part one: The Violent Femmes

These dudes are brilliant. Saw the lead singer live on the Carson Daly show in New York City 7 years ago. He was a cool cat and a good interviewee ... too bad Carson Daly is such a tool. Ignore the black and white filler video, it's just there as a visual place holder so the song can be enjoyed via You Tube. Happy listening!

Finally! Some Captain America movie news

These tid bits come way too far and few between. Only 2.5 years away till freedom rings, true believers! Who can possibly wait that long? Till then, it will be pure torture ...

Joe Johnston has signed on to direct Marvel Studios' First Avenger: Captain America, based on characters developed by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. Paramount Pictures will distribute First Avenger: Captain America worldwide. The film will come to theaters domestically on May 6, 2011.

Here's the official logline: In the early days of the Marvel Universe, Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.

Johnston is currently directing The Wolfman, which hits theaters on April 3. Johnston previously directed October Sky, Jumanji, Jurassic Park III, The Rocketeer and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Johnston won an Academy Award® in 1982 for Best Visual Effects for Raiders of the Lost Ark.

American Boy

A 5'7" Guy ...
His confidence is peakin' ...
Baggy jeans ...
From the subways of New York to the BART trains of San Francisco ...

Is it just me, or is this song played every hour across all Top 40 format stations? Everywhere I turn, every station I turn to, there it is. It must be a Kanye Konspiracy, I tell you.

Birthday Boys

Today is Friday, isn't it Ron? You lucky s.o.b.
From the Champ, to the Chump: Happy Birthday.
Also, happy birthday to my identical birth date twin, FSU's Javon Walker.

How does one love a 'strict machine?'

I just love Target and iPod TV Commercial music. Why don't they sell it as a soundtrack at Target ... right next to the rainbow assortment of 'nano-chromatic' iPods? No brainer.

Sons of Anarchy on FX Network

This is a great frakin' show, people. It is authentic and because it's on FX, they allow a bit of swearing, graphic violence and gratuitious-almost-nudity. Anyone who has ever lived in the central valley of California will get this show - it's legit. With so much mediocrity in our TV-viewing lives, this is one highlight that will make you feel alive again ... if only that feeling could be sustained and maintained among the every day dreck.
